Scaleway provides high-performance Elastic Metal servers, a sovereign cloud, and reliable object storage. But once your instance is delivered, you are responsible for everything running on it.

Our recommendation: Proxmox VE on your Scaleway server

As part of our managed server service, we recommend installing Proxmox VE (free, open-source) on your dedicated Scaleway server. Proxmox VE can be installed on Elastic Metal via the Scaleway custom ISO.

Incident triggering via PagerDuty

In case of a confirmed production outage, you trigger an incident via PagerDuty (credentials provided upon contract signing). Our on-call team is alerted immediately.

Legitimate incident:

  • Server unreachable
  • Critical service down
  • Ongoing data loss
  • Suspected security breach

Not an incident — use email:

  • Non-urgent technical question
  • Planned change request
  • Minor slowness with no business impact

Abusive triggering outside of production outages: 100 EUR excl. VAT per incident. This measure ensures on-call availability for genuine emergencies.

Your backups should not be at Scaleway

If your backups are on the same server or the same hosting provider as your production environment, an incident (ransomware, datacenter failure, human error) destroys both at the same time.

With your RDEM management contract, a NimbusBackup PBS volume is included: your Proxmox VMs are automatically backed up to our Equinix Paris infrastructure, physically separate from Scaleway.

Can you manage my Scaleway Elastic Metal servers?
Yes, we manage all types of Scaleway servers: Elastic Metal (bare-metal), cloud instances (DEV1, GP1, PRO2), and even managed services like Object Storage or Kubernetes Kapsule. SSH or VPN access is all we need to get started.
Scaleway already offers support. Why hire a managed service provider?
Scaleway support covers the physical infrastructure and platform incidents. It does not monitor your application services, update your OS, manage your backups, or call you at 3am when your database crashes. A managed service provider fills that gap.
How much does Scaleway server management cost?
70 EUR excl. VAT/month during business hours or 150 EUR excl. VAT/month for 24/7 coverage with a 4h response time and 1 hour of intervention included. Same pricing regardless of the Scaleway instance type. Volume discounts available for large fleets.
Do you also manage Object Storage and Kubernetes Kapsule?
Yes. We monitor your Object Storage buckets (quotas, availability, access), your Kubernetes Kapsule clusters (health checks, scaling, updates) and your managed databases. Our monitoring covers your entire Scaleway stack.
How quickly can we get started?
Within 48 hours. We need SSH or VPN access to your Scaleway servers, and we deploy our monitoring stack (agents, alerts, dashboards). Onboarding is free and included in the plan.
How does the included backup work?
Your Scaleway server runs Proxmox VE. We configure an automatic backup job to our NimbusBackup PBS infrastructure (Equinix Paris). Your VMs are backed up daily, with configurable retention. You can also access your PBS datastore directly from the Proxmox interface to manage your backups yourself. In case of disaster, we restore within 4 hours (contractual RTO).
How do I report a production incident?
Upon contract signing, you receive your PagerDuty credentials to trigger an incident. In case of a confirmed production outage (server down, critical service failure, data loss, security compromise), you trigger via PagerDuty. Our on-call team is alerted immediately and responds within the contractual response time. Routine support (questions, planned changes) is handled via email or the member portal. Abusive triggering outside of production outages: 100 EUR excl. VAT per incident.
